Camp care package

Letters? They’re nice. Postcards? They’re sweet. But, camp care packages? Now that’s what your child really wants!

While your little one is enjoying a summer away at camp, there’s no better way to put a smile on their face than with a thoughtful camp care package. And if you’re not sure what to include (or what not to include) in your box full of love, keep reading!

Fill Your Camp Care Package with Goodies

1. Pictures from home

Whether it’s a family photo or a funny selfie with a pet, pictures from home are a great way to show your child what’s been happening at the homestead while they’ve been away. It’s also an excellent way for your child’s friends or roommates to put faces to names if he/she elects to share the photos.

2. Disposable camera

Most camps don’t allow campers to bring electronics. So, if the camp allows, consider sending a disposable camera or two. Your child will love snapping pictures of their friends, camp activities, and more. And getting the images developed after they’ve returned home from camp and looking through them together will make for a special moment between parent and child.

3. Notes

There’s nothing like a thoughtful note from mom or dad. Tell your child how excited you are for their return home and how you can’t wait to hear about everything they’ve done while at camp. Not only is it meaningful, but it’s also a free addition to your summer camp care package.

4. Candy

Food is a tricky one. While most camps don’t permit outside food onsite (due to bears or other predators being drawn in), some camps have no rules against it. If your child is one of the lucky ones at a camp where outside food is fine, be sure to send along their favorite snacks and sweets.

5. Stuffed animal

Whether it’s a brand new stuffed animal or their favorite one from home, every child needs a cuddle bug while adjusting to their home away from home. Consider adding one to your camp care package.

6. Money

Money is another item that may not be permitted. However, some camps do have little snack shops or vending machines, in which having a few extra dollars would certainly come in handy.

7. Magazines or books

While summer camp is filled with non-stop excitement, your child will certainly have some downtime, too. Include the latest issue of their favorite magazine or a new book to pass the time.

8. Supplies

Is your child running low on toothpaste or hair ties? A camp care package is the best way to help them re-stock! Consider getting in touch with your child before sending out the care package to get an idea of what they may need.

9. Card games

There’s nothing like a late-night round of Uno or Go Fish. Card games are a great and inexpensive addition to your camp care package.
